About artist

Born in the inspiring mountains of Asheville, North Carolina in 1996, Colton Dion's artistic vision takes traditional landscapes into captivating new dimensions. His work is immediately recognizable for its distinctive sculptural forms, where the canvas itself seems to warp and undulate at times, drawing viewers into a unique traditional, surreal or sculptural experience.

Dion's artistic journey is fueled by a deep connection to nature, particularly the majestic mountains and ever-changing atmosphere of his Western North Carolina home. While life and it’s twists and turns can work their way into a piece via synchronistic surrealism, it’s hard to pinpoint Colton’s work. This profound relationship with nature, coupled with an admiration for artists spanning Salvador Dali, Allison Moritsugu, and Ivan Shishkin's evocative forests, shapes his evolving artistic expression.

Currently exhibiting his work primarily at The Colton Dion Gallery and through representation at many other places and galleries, Colton invites viewers to reconsider traditional landscape painting. Through his innovative sculptural approach, he finds joy in presenting familiar themes in an entirely new and continuously experimental format, inviting a fresh perspective on the beauty that surrounds us.
